Gardeners glory in Your Bracknell Gardens accolade

Green fingered Bracknell enthusiasts were awarded for their flowery efforts today last Friday (21st September) when the results of the annual Your Gardens competition were announced.

The local gardening competition organised by Bracknell Forest Borough Council and sponsored by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership announced this year’s lucky winners at the Your Gardens Awards held at The Grange Hotel.

Despite this summer's watery weather conditions there was still an array of glorious gardens within Bracknell Forest which impressed the judges.

The Your Gardens competition is not only aimed at making the borough more visually interesting but is also central to Bracknell Forest’s entry into the regional Britain in Bloom competition. Bracknell was awarded the second place silver guild award when the results for this were announced at the beginning of the month. The Council also won awards for the best for water conservation and best for commercial involvement.

Cllr Iain McCracken. Executive Member for Bracknell Leisure and Corporate Services at Bracknell Forest Borough Council, said: “I am always impressed by the high standards and inventiveness we see in the entries. Residential gardens play such an important role in the wider environment so it’s great to see residents making such a huge effort.

“As with previous years it’s been extremely difficult for the panel to pick the winners but we wouldn’t have it any other way. My thanks to BRP for their continuing support and to my fellow judges for our lively debate."
