CIAO Festival 2005,
8-12 June,
South Hill Park,
Ringmead,
Bracknell,
Berks,
RG12 7PA
Whilst there are plenty of festivals, big and small, for adults to enjoy, it isn’t often that there is something especially for children and families. Celebrating the arts for young audiences of all ages, CIAO! Festival is now in its third year and this year will be showcasing professional performing arts from around the UK, as well as visual arts and workshops.
There is plenty to dazzle and delight the young and young at heart – you can be entertained by a delightful story about friendship and sharing; be thrilled by a dance performance based on a traditional Russian story; meet a clown who will make you howl with laughter; be transported by drummers to Samoa, South America and China and enter the world of artist, inventor and genius Leonardo da Vinci. There is also the chance to learn Indian Bhangra dance, make your own mobile, have your face painted, be captivated by a storyteller in a TeePee or take part in a drama workshop.
There are performances all day and into the evening with activities on Wednesday - Friday aimed at schools and Saturday & Sunday aimed at families. Tickets for performances cost £6 for adults, £4 for children, family ticket £18 and all workshops are £4 or you can make a day of it and see two shows and take part in one workshop for just £10!
For a full festival programme contact South Hill Park on 01344 484123. CIAO! is delighted to have received an Arts Council England grant of £90,000 to fund children’s festivals at South Hill park in 2005 & 2006, marking CIAO! as a flagship event in the South East region.
