Thousands of Bracknell schoolchildren will be on The Look Out for fun-filled activities brought straight to their classroom by one of the country’s top education centres this spring.
The Bracknell Look Out Discovery Centre is launching a new project called The Look Out on the Road on Tuesday, March 30, which will bring the centre’s fascinating challenges direct to the classroom.
Staff from The Look Out will be offering a variety of exciting themed workshops including Mars Mission Madness, Bridge Builder and Solar Power. The workshops will be stimulating, educational and great for team building.
The Bracknell Starlab, a mobile inflatable planetarium, will be another popular attraction available to schools through The Look Out on the Road. It’s already been greeted with enthusiasm by many children and teachers who have enjoyed learning about planets, stars and the solar system.
The Look Out On The Road will also promote environmental concerns to children through the Waste Not, Want Not! Challenge Workshop. For younger children, Smoggish – a puppet made out of rubbish – will be telling stories about recycling and reusing materials.
Problem solving will also become fun for Bracknell children who do not like maths as The Look Out On The Road’s Maths Kit encourages enquiry and problem solving. Plus, there is also a Maths Detective show and Mathamagic show to help get to grips with tricky maths problems.
And if nature is calling, a Bugs and Beasties show is also available. All activities include free worksheets.
Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for Bracknell culture, said: The Look Out Discovery Centre provides a fantastic opportunity for our youngsters to learn in a fun and creative environment. Our schools have always taken advantage of the experience that is The Look Out and now they have the opportunity to offer pupils the experience of visiting The Look Out, without having to leave the school grounds, how great is that!”
